General lnstructions

1. The Journal for Bioenergetic Analysis - Psychotherapy publishes scientific articles, empirical research articles, reviews, projects, case histories, conference and congress reports and book reviews. There is also the possibility of submitting short scientific communications. The decision for accepting any manuscript is with the chief editor. Manuscripts must be written in (GB) English.

2. A condition for submission of a manuscript is, that it must not have been published before or simultaneously submitted elsewhere for publication, in whole or in part. This also applies to electronic methods of publication. lt does not apply to abstracts of scientific meetings. Once a manuscript is accepted for publication the copyright is automatically transferred to the Journal.

3. Manuscripts are received with the understanding that they are originals written by the author. When there is more than one author, all have to be listed and all must agree with the publication of the manuscript by signing the letter to the editor.

4. Manuscripts are refereed by two reviewers in order to judge the quality, the originality and the relevance to Bioenergetic Analysis. Authors will be notified within 6 weeks of receipt of manuscript.

5. Two printed copies of a manuscript must be submitted together with a disk. (Word ‘95 or better, 11 pts., 1.5 space.) It is also possible to send the document as an attachment to e-mail to the editor:

Formal Lay-out of Scientific Manuscripts:

1. First page. Title of manuscrip: Name(s) of author(s); address for correspondence, source of financial support if applicable. List any meetings at which the work has been presented.

2. Second page: Summary of the work in English. Provide no more than 6 keywords.

3. Third page: Summary of the work in the language of the main author. Provide no more than 6 keywords.

4. From Page four on: the text starting with an Introduction to the subject, followed by Methods, Techniques etc., Results, Discussion or Conclusion, References.

5. Figures and graphs must be on separate pages. The journal will accept black and white photos, simple charts/graphs, and simple line drawings.

6. References: references in the text must be cited in form of a parenthesis containing the name or names of the author, the publication year and page. Example: Smith (1989, p. 20) or Smith and Miller (1990, p. 30) or Smith et al. (1992, p. 40), in case of more than two authors. References need to be listed at the end of an article in alphabetical order. ** Example of a reference from a journal: Stiles W.B. (1993): Quality control in qualitative research, Clin Psychol Rev 13: p. 593-618. ** Example of a reference from a book: Pascual-Leone J. (1990): An essay of wisdom: towards organismic processes that make it possible in Sternberg R(ed) Wisdom: its nature, origins, and development Cambridge University Press, New York, p. 244-278.

Manuscripts in preparation or submitted for publication are not acceptable as references.

Special Articles
Theoretical concept articles, review articles, short communications and case histories do not have to follow the lay-out scheme above except for the list of references which must be as outlined.

Case reports

These must be educational, e.g. they must include theoretical concepts. They may describe a single case or a small series of cases. They should draw attention to important clinical situations, to unusual clinical phenomena or to a newly developed treatment technique.

Letters to the editor

These should be brief with very few references, a small table or illustration. Such letters may offer criticism of published material, or matters of general interest to Bioenergetic Analysis. The must be objective, contructive and educational, They must be received in the editorial office no later than 3 months after the appearance of the original article that is the subject of the commentary.

The Journal also publishes reports of scientific meetings, and book reviews.

Legal and ethical considerations

Manuscripts containing true patients names or photographs will not be published. Case histories must be written in such a way that the patient is unrecognisable. Also a written consent of the subject must be obtained prior to time of submission of the manuscript. Authors must obey the ethical guidelines of the EFBAP.
